SEARCH SOLUTIONS FOR BUSINESS

Leading companies, such as Conoco-Phillips, Honeywell and Agile Software Corporation,
have turned to the Google Search Appliance to provide instant, secure access to all enterprise
information. The Google Search Appliance is an integrated hardware and software product that
uses Google's powerful search engine technology to bring universal search to your business.

How you'll benefit

  • Increase productivity - According to research from IDC and Accenture,
knowledge workers spend more than 25% of their time searching for information,
often unsuccessfully. With Google's universal search, your engineers and other
employees can find what they're looking for in less time, so you can increase your
    productivity and pace of innovation.
  • Manage global collaboration of engineers - Whether they're working from company
headquarters or a remote station, your engineers can quickly access product
documentation, engineering specifications, launch plans and millions of other
documents from all over the world. And our "expert search" feature lets your
employees instantly find an expert within the company on any given topic.
  • Connect the value chain - Your employees, suppliers, partners, distributors
and customers will all be able to search and find relevant information, with security
features to ensure that any given user's results only include information that he or
    she is authorized to view.

Customer Impact

Alcoa - Alcoa, the world's leading producer of primary aluminum and fabricated aluminum,
had a corporate communications project to address the search needs of the MyAlcoa portal.
The primary purpose was to make HR policies and forms easily searchable, and they chose
the Google Search Appliance.

Conoco-Phillips - A leader in oil exploration, Conoco-Phillips uses the GSA cluster to search
through the company's distributed content worldwide. Conoco-Phillips has diverse
content sources, from geo-scientific studies to seismic reports to HR policies. The
company uses the appliance's 'Collections' feature to segment content by geography,
job function and organization. Since they deployed the appliance, search volume has
increased significantly, and complaints about search quality have been reduced considerably.

Honeywell - Honeywell International is a $30 billion diversified technology and
manufacturing leader, serving customers in the aerospace, electronics, building technology,
automotive, and specialty materials industries.

As part of a global effort to better organize its information, Honeywell purchased two
Google Search Appliances - to satisfy the needs of both its 120,000 employees and the public
seeking consumer products and business information. The Search Appliance began by improving
search on the intranet and website, but now helps Honeywell increase productivity through
the organization. The ability to find information is the next step to keeping our technology excellence
within engineering, which helps Honeywell retain its technological edge.

Kimberly Clark - Kimberly-Clark Corporation manufactures and markets a range of
health and hygiene products in over 80 countries (their brands include Kleenex, Scott and Huggies).
In order to better manage their internal information, Kimberly Clark deployed the Google Search
Appliance across enterprise-wide internal content, includeing the company's intranet, databases
and file servers. After evaluating other options, they chose Google because of its superior search
results, unified search and desktop search capabilities.

Agile - To serve its 11,000 customer customers globally, Agile Software Corporation has
more than 700 employees located across the world. Within the various business functions, information
is managed differently. For example, the finance, legal and Solution Delivery teams store information
in Documentum's eRoom, a document repository, while the engineering team manages all of its
information in Agile's own PLM system, ClearQuest and wikis. Customer Support uses Onyx,
a web-based CRM system, and Primus to manage knowledge base articles. In total, Agile has
over 300,000 documents throughout its various Enterprise Application stores, including wikis,
eRooms, blogs, websites, word, and PDF documents. Agile has implemented the Google Search Appliance
and now its global workforce can easily access information across various information repositories
and be more productive.
